Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Breathwork Therapy, Inner Child Regression, Psychodynamic Coaching, Hypnotherapy, and Mindfulness & Meditation are 7 techniques that could be a great alternative to talk therapy.

Read about each one below to see which one might be right for you!

Alternative Technique #1 - Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is based on the relationship between the mind and nervous system - how we process our experiences, perceive others and the outside world and how we represent these on the inside via our five senses. Overall, this creates our perceptions of reality, a collection of both external and internal experiences. It is this perception of reality that is changeable. So just as our reality actually consists of our thoughts, beliefs and mindset - which supports the concept we are what we think. As our brains are neuroplastic, we can access these deep-seated programs in the subconscious via various techniques and change how things feel and look on the inside and to therefore install and drive new behaviours and reprogram limiting beliefs and destructive thoughts with the truth.

Alternative Technique #2 - Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

EFT cultivates acceptance of what is and replace it with the positive encourages you to feel – we need to feel to heal, it allows unresolved emotions, suppressed grief. It allows you to confront it and EFT replace to with the truthful, empowering affirmations to bring acceptance, love and kindness.

Alternative Technique #3 - Breathwork Therapy

Breathwork allows for the next piece of the puzzle to help complete the healing process by allowing mind and body alignment. The mind drives the feelings via the central nervous system (CNS) which is why the emotions happen in the body. Therefore, we can’t only do the mind work, we also need to the body work. A lot like going to the gym, we need to do some cardio, weight/strength exercises, and eat well too.

Energy is trapped in the body when the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) has not been able to discharge, this is during hyperarousal and can be from stress, overwhelm, anxiety and trauma. It gets blocked in the body and breathwork allows you to use the breath to discharge the SNS, regulate the CNS and rhythm of your heart which directly effects signals to and from the heart and brain. It is also important because it offers emotional release and spontaneous healing events. During breathwork we also access the subconscious mind, like hypnotherapy, to create alternate states of consciousness and activates the theta brainwave state. This allows for more positive suggestions, installing healthy new truthful statements, thoughts, and affirmations, allowing you to confront fears, find positive intention, and let go as well. At the end of breathwork, you will feel more balance, sense of release and relief and a deep send of relaxation and inner peace.
